About the
“Nurture Their Dreams Endowed Scholarship”

This scholarship was established at Portland State University (PSU), Portland, Oregon in memory of Major Morris. Major Morris held his last professional position at PSU before retiring from higher education.

The scholarship was established to honor Major Morris’ lifelong commitment of assisting in opening doors of opportunities for under-represented communities, especially through education. The scholarship was named after Morris’ photo book “Nurture Their Dreams.”

The scholarship is competitive with the following criteria:

The selected student must

  • have high financial need as determined by the PSU Financial Aid Office

  • be at class level Junior, Senior, Post Baccalaureate, Credential or Graduate level

  • have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • be pursuing a career in elementary or middle school public education.

  • Field of Study: Any Major or field of study may apply.

Students at PSU may apply for the scholarship every spring. The scholarship is awarded in fall for the full academic year.

NOTE: Proceeds from all sales of Major Morris’ photographic items will benefit the "Nurture Their Dream Endowed Scholarship”.
