Most of the photos in the “Major Morris: Music, Movement, Memories” exhibit were taken in the Boston Massachusetts area in the 1960s.

For a while during the 1960s, Morris was a volunteer “Disk Jockey,” coordinator and moderator of the “Black Family Experiences,” a PBS program in Boston, Massachusetts. Morris loved the arts, especially jazz music. He would visit various Boston jazz clubs and establishments, then promote the places and the artists he met there on his radio show.

To know more about Major Morris, his life, work, love for jazz and photography, please refer to his anthology, “Escape From Black Bottom.”
